Okey dokey, this is definitely a Christmas post.

I was walking around the house today, and every room I went into smelt like Christmas but in a different way...

These are the 12 smells that I think really represent Christmas!:

1. The Christmas Tree

There is nothing like the smell of a slightly damp, fresh pine tree to make you feel festive - every year crawling under the branches to plug in the lights and place presents under it...

2. Gingerbread

No one can argue that the smell of freshly baked gingerbread is synonymous with Christmas - and the taste ;)

It's such a warm and comforting smell

3. Oranges and Cloves

Like gingerbread, oranges and cloves is a really comforting smell and reminds me of walking through the Southbank Christmas market

4. Cinnamon

Cinnamon is again just a classic Christmas smell - apparently it is scientifically the MOST Christmas smell! It turns out that cinnamon is used at Christmas because it was extremely expensive to get in Europe (as it came from India) and was used in lots to show of wealth in the festive season...

5. Open Fires

That rich smokey smell makes you remember what Christmas is really about - coming together with your family and staying warm in the inevitable cold

6. Roast Chestnuts

There is always a roast chestnut stand in the middle of the high street at this time of year and the smell alone is enough to appreciate the manic Christmas shopping a little more

7. Christmas Pudding

Whether you like eating them or not, the smell of Christmas pudding and all its stodgy, sticky goodness always makes you feel festive

8. Wrapping Paper

Now this one may sound dubious but the smell of new wrapping paper (either you wrapping with it or unwrapping it) is certainly a smell of giving or receiving presents from loved ones

9. Candy Canes

Hanging candy canes on the tree, albeit hidden at the back, is a tradition in my family and that peppermint smell and taste can only really be enjoyed fully at Christmas

10. Mulled Wine

I may not drink mulled wine but the smell can fill any area: a room, a house or even a whole street or Christmas market

11. Hot Chocolate

This one may not be specific to Christmas but it is definitely a classic winter necessity, I've got to keep my hands warm somehow!

12. Candles

No matter if they are scented or not, the smell of candles when they are blown out or lit makes you feel all cozy - definitely a hyyge scent
